‘Why going to transgenders for sex? Misconception that transgenders earn money from streets still exists’

There are many talented transgender makeup artists working in various places today, said celebrity makeup artist Renju Renjimar. She said speaking on public issues had affected her work very badly. The makeup artist revealed about the neglect she faced in an interview with a YouTube channel.

'There are people who say good and bad things on social media. We can never change people. I was harshly criticised for speaking on public issues. I speak only after studying those issues well. So, I don't take the criticisms against me seriously. Speaking on many things has affected my work.

This job is very safe. If you bring sincerity, creativity, honesty, etc., you can succeed in this job. There are many talented makeup artists from the trans community working today. There is happiness and pride in that. We chose this job not only for acceptance. It is also our livelihood.

The misconception that transgenders earn money from the streets still exists. Many came to this field after overcoming such things. There have been various types of criticisms recently about the excessive number of transgenders seen at the South Railway Station. The people criticising was able to see transgenders because they went there. They will have wives and lovers. Why do they go to the transgenders to fulfil their sexual needs.

Those criticising need to decide that they are not interested in having sex with people from our community. Just see how many people are ready for this. Those capable of raising a family well go in search of transgenders. People not capable are criticizing.

There are very talented ones in our community. They can sing and dance. There are talented among us who can compete and dance with Shobhana. Give them a chance and we will prove it.

No one gives them that chance. ‘If parents of transgenders have understood them, no one would have taken up sex work as a profession. Many people take this job only when they don't get any other opportunity,’ said Renju.
