THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Opposition leader VD Satheesan revealed that it is the owner of Oasis Company, who was arrested in the Delhi liquor policy case, who was given permission by the government to start a brewery at Kanjikode. It was also pointed out that Minister MB Rajesh praised this company the other day.
"The minister can just say what he got. Only what has been received from the company for permitting them to operate is to be revealed. The government should withdraw from the process of giving permission to the infamous company," Satheesan demanded.
“The brewery was permitted to start without following any procedure. It is not clear how the company was selected. Why was only this company given permission? It is not a monarchy to give as charity to loved ones. Liquor manufacturing units were not given permission in the state as part of a 26-year-old policy. That policy has been changed and permission has been given to the Oasis company secretly without anyone's knowledge."
“A case has been filed against the same company in Punjab for polluting surface water and ground water over an area of more than four kilometres by dumping waste. The matter reached Parliament. The Central Pollution Board and the Central Ground Water Board visited the area and reported serious violations. The Punjab Pollution Control Board also filed a case against the company. It was found that they have polluted the ground water by dumping waste through borewell. This is the glory of the company the Excise Minister talked about.”
Permission for Oasis following procedure: Minister Rajesh
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Minister MB Rajesh said that the initial approval given to Oasis Commercial Pvt Ltd to set up an ethanol manufacturing plant at Kanjikode is by following all the rules.
"The Leader of the Opposition and former Leader of the Opposition are trying to create a smokescreen by making false allegations. The proposal submitted by the company was approved following legal procedure. Permission is subject to compliance with guidelines and conditions. If anyone else approaches, they will also be given permission through the same process. 9.26 crore litres of spirit was imported into Kerala last year alone. The state of Kerala itself will benefit when the same spirit is produced here. The battle for the upper hand in the Congress is intensifying. This topic is also being used for that," the minister said.
