NILESHWAR: In an outrageous show of arrogance, the railway police thrashed the feet of a Malayali retired Air Force officer who was sleeping on a bench at Mangaluru Central Railway Station. The hit was terrible and the retired officer’s swollen leg was amputated above the knee. Nileshwaram native PV Suresan (54) went through this tragic suffering.

On the night of February 1, Suresan was brutally beaten up by the railway police. He was working as a security guard in Mangaluru and reached the station after visiting the military canteen. He went to sleep while waiting for the train. Meanwhile, two police officers on patrol came near him and thrashed his feet without even caring to ask his whereabouts.

Suresan, who was unable to put his feet on the ground due to the beating, called his daughter and continued his stay at the railway station. The woman informed the police and reached the Mangaluru police station. By this time, Suresan had gone unconscious and was visibly tired.

After first aid, Suresan returned home and was admitted to the hospital after swelling in his leg. He was taken to a hospital in Mangaluru after being advised by an expert. His leg had to be amputated after he was found to be in critical condition with a broken muscle. Mangaluru police have registered a case on the complaint of the relatives.
