NEW DELHI: The US has deported 119 Indians again after they were found to be illegal immigrants. The flights that left with the Indians will land in Amritsar on Saturday and Sunday. It is noteworthy that this move by the US comes during Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to the US. This is the second time that a flight with illegal Indians has landed in Amritsar.
67 people from Punjab, 33 from Haryana, 8 from Gujarat, 3 from Uttar Pradesh, 2 each from Maharashtra and Rajasthan, and 1 each from Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh will arrive in India on Saturday. However, it is not clear whether they will be brought in a military aircraft.
A US military C-17 aircraft carrying the first batch of 104 Indians deported by the US landed at the Sri Guru Ramdas Ji International Airport in Amritsar last week. The passengers included 30 from Punjab, 33 from Haryana and Gujarat, three each from Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh, and two from Chandigarh.
Videos and pictures of their arrival on the plane have drawn sharp criticism. Those who arrived in the first batch from the US had revealed that they were brought back in handcuffs on a military plane. They said that they were shackled, including their legs and arms, and were unable to move from their seats.
