MALAPPURAM: KP Shafi was astonished to find his stolen scooter returned with a full tank of petrol and a new tyre after months of it being missing. The incident occurred in Vadakkemanna, Malappuram.
The Activa scooter was stolen in the last week of December when Shafi, an employee of HMC Decoration & Events in Vadakkemanna, and his colleague, Baba, were at the town mosque during prayer time. At the time of the theft, the scooter had very little petrol.
Following the theft, Shafi filed a police complaint and reviewed CCTV footage from a nearby establishment. He saw a young man riding the scooter in the Othukkungal area, but the investigation did not lead to the scooter's recovery.
Two months later, on a Monday morning, Shafi was surprised to find the scooter parked in front of his shop. Reviewing the nearby CCTV, he saw the same young man riding the scooter from Malappuram at 10:27 PM the previous night. The man left the vehicle in front of the establishment before running away. Upon inspection, Shafi discovered the scooter had a full tank of petrol, a new rear tire, and only minor damages. Despite this, Shafi is concerned that the scooter may have been used for illegal activities.
