Special Village Officer arrested for taking bribe; Village Officer Jiju Scaria charged as second accused

KOTTAYAM: The vigilance team caught B Ajith Kumar of Amrita House, Karukachal, Champakara, Vellavoor, while accepting a bribe of Rs 5,000 for mutation of land. A case has been registered with Village Officer Jiju Scaria as the second accused.

The complainant is a native of Vellavoor. Ajith Kumar demanded a bribe to perform the mutation of eight and a half-cent land. He also said that another bribe should be paid to the village officer. The complainant then approached the vigilance. The vigilance team caught Ajith Kumar while the complainant was handing over the money yesterday afternoon. He was produced before the Muvattupuzha vigilance court and remanded.
