KOLLUR: Development projects worth Rs 300 crore are coming up in Kollur Mookambika Temple. The projects will give a needed facelift to the temple premises, with better facilities for pilgrims who are coming from far away places.
“In addition to the temple fund, there will be financial assistance from the government”, the temple trustee PV Abhilash, resident of Kottarakkara Melkulangara, told Kerala Kaumudi.
A guest house with modern facilities will be constructed for the pilgrims. Even if people come in group, there will be amble facitilties to accommodate all. Rooms will be provided on nominal rent. There are also plans to build a big hospital under the temple in Kunthapuram Taluk.
The Board of Trustees is also planning to implement the 'Punyam Poonkavanam’ project, emulating the success in Sabarimala. Trustee PV Abhilash has already spoken to ADGP P. Vijayan, the brain behind the project in Sabarimala. The project will include work to make Sowparnika River pollution-free.
To ease the hardship of Malayali devotees coming to Kollur, more travel services will be considered. The trustee member will soon meet Transport Minister K B Ganesh Kumar to mull plans to introduce a direct bus services to the Kollur temple.
The Union Ministry of Railways has also been approached to allow all trains running via Konkan to stop at Mookambika Road Byndoor station. Drinking water project, pollution plant, road development projects have already started.
