BENGALURU: Police have arrested the wife and mother-in-law of a real estate businessman in connection with his murder. The arrested individuals are Yashaswini Singh (19) and her mother Hemabai (37), the wife and mother-in-law of real estate businessman Loknath Singh. The body of Loknath Singh was found in a car in a remote area of Chikkabanavara in Karnataka on Saturday. Authorities believe the murder was motivated by Loknath's extramarital affairs and illegal business activities.
The accused drugged Loknath by mixing sleeping pills in his food. They then took him to an isolated location, where they slit his throat using a knife. Loknath and Yashaswini got married in December without the consent of the family. After the marriage, Loknath reportedly began harassing Yashaswini, demanding she facilitate a physical relationship between him and her mother, Hemabai. Following these demands, Yashaswini returned to her parental home, but Loknath continued to threaten her. In response, the wife and mother-in-law decided to murder him.
On Saturday morning, Loknath called Yashaswini and told her that he wanted to meet her. The two parked their car in an isolated area and spoke. During the conversation, Yashaswini gave him food laced with sleeping pills. Once he became unconscious, she called her mother. It was Hemabai who carried out the murder.
