RSS leader's name for differently abled skill center; Protest at foundation stone laying ceremony in Palakkad Municipality

PALAKKAD: There is a huge protest in naming the skill center for the differently abled in Palakkad Municipality after an RSS leader. The protest has been organized by the Youth Congress and DYFI. The protest is against naming the building after RSS leader Hedgewar. The Youth Congress initially protested by blocking the foundation stone laying ceremony. After the police arrested and removed them, DYFI came protesting.

There was a huge scuffle between the police and DYFI workers in the municipality. The police are trying to arrest and remove them from the spot. The authorities said the skill center is being built under the leadership of a private company and is not being built using the municipality's funds. The DYFI's stand is that they will not allow the name of a leader who has no historical significance to be given to a new building in the BJP-ruled Palakkad Municipality.
