Five-year-old boy dies after falling into uncovered well in Vadakara

KOZHIKODE: A five-year-old boy met with a tragic end after he fell into an uncovered well in Karuvancheri in Maniyoor, Vadakara. The deceased child has been identified as Nivan. The accident happened while he was playing in a field near his house.

Another child who fell into the well along with Nivan was miraculously rescued. The child survived by holding on to the stone steps inside the well. The rescued child was admitted to Vadakara Cooperative Hospital.

Nivan, however, fell deep into the water and was unable to hold on to the steps. The incident took place around 4:30 PM today. His body was shifted to the mortuary of Vadakara District Hospital. Though the fire and rescue team arrived at the scene, the locals had already pulled the children out of the well by then. Despite being rushed to the hospital immediately, Nivan could not be saved.
