SRINAGAR: Indian Army killed a Lashkar-e-Taiba commander in an encounter in Bandipora. Reports said the terrorist Altaf Lalli was killed in the encounter. Following the terror attack in Pahalgam, the terrorists hiding in the area opened fire on the troops during a joint search operation by the Jammu and Kashmir Police and Army. The encounter continued for three hours. Two soldiers were also injured.
Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi visited Srinagar to review the situation. He decided to review the progress of the operation to find the Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorists suspected to be behind the Pahalgam terror attack and to take a comprehensive view of the situation. The houses of two terrorists suspected to be involved in the Pahalgam attack were destroyed by security forces and the Jammu and Kashmir local administration on Friday. Pakistan had opened fire on the Line of Control last night. The Indian Army said that the encounter was fierce. No one was injured.
