TEL AVIV: As the conflict between the two countries escalates, Israel has expanded its attacks into western Iran. Massive explosions occurred in the capital city, Tehran.
Iran claimed that the headquarters of Israel’s intelligence agency, Mossad, in Tel Aviv was destroyed in a missile attack. They also released images and videos. Israel has not confirmed this.
Israel has claimed that Ali Shadmani, appointed just four days ago as Iran's military commander, was killed in an attack carried out yesterday. His predecessor, Major General Gholam Ali Rashid, was reportedly killed in a separate strike on Friday. In the aftermath, Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei named Shadmani to lead the ‘Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters,’ the nation’s military emergency command. Shadmani was considered one of Khamenei’s closest military advisors. Iran has yet to confirm his death.
Israel stated that Iran has used around 400 ballistic missiles and hundreds of drones against them so far.
Yesterday afternoon, two massive explosions occurred in Tehran. Black smoke was seen rising near the State Television headquarters and other government offices. In retaliation, a massive bus terminal in Tel Aviv was destroyed in Iran’s missile attack.
The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) confirmed that an Israeli airstrike on an Iranian nuclear facility caused significant damage.
The World Health Organisation (WHO) expressed concern that attacks on nuclear facilities could affect both the environment and public health.
Trump's warning
U.S. President Donald Trump warned that Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei should step down immediately. He warned Tehran residents to flee as soon as possible. Trump declared that this would not just be a warning, but a decisive end. He also stated that Israel has the right to defend itself and will receive full support for its security — a point made clear in the resolution adopted at the G7 summit in Canada.
