KOZHIKODE: Youth Congress has issued a sharp response to statements made by some leaders suggesting that CPM leader P.K. Sasi was invited to join the Congress party. Youth Congress State General Secretary and Kozhikode District Panchayat member V.P. Dulkhifil stated that such a move would be detrimental to the party. He pointed out that P.K. Sasi is facing allegations of harassing women, which makes him unfit for the Congress party.
Speaking to the media, Dulkhifil stated that the Congress party is not a safe haven for those who have humiliated women. He warned that if P.K. Sasi joins Congress, it would result in more harm than benefit.
The controversy arose after Congress MP V.K. Sreekandan welcomed P.K. Sasi to the party. However, Sreekandan clarified that the internal issues within the CPM related to P.K. Sasi are not their concern. He also noted that serious factional issues persist within the CPM in Palakkad and that the party tends to sideline those who speak out. Sreekandan had earlier stated that many within the CPM are deeply dissatisfied with this approach.
