BHOPAL: A 72-year-old woman was forced to hold a drip bottle for half an hour for her seriously injured grandson. The incident took place at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel District Hospital in Satna, Madhya Pradesh. The elderly woman held onto the drip bottle for 30 minutes for her grandson because the staff did not provide a drip stand. The staff did not provide a drip stand even though 35-year-old Ashwani Mishra was in a critical condition. Everyone was left watching as onlookers.
The hospital bystanders and patients who witnessed the incident clarified that there was no shortage of drip stands. Many blamed the staff's negligence for such difficulties. Seeing the old woman suffering for a long time without a drip stand, many looked at her with sympathy. The criticism is that although some asked the staff to provide drip stands, they did not get back to them.
The condition of the ambulance that brought the man was also very deplorable. Ashwani Mishra was dropped off at the hospital gate after the vehicle broke down. The nearby people had to push the vehicle to restart it. Although a complaint was filed with the authorities to provide basic facilities at the hospital, no action has been taken so far.
This is the latest in a series of incidents that highlight the lack of basic facilities in government hospitals in Bhopal. Patients and their relatives are facing difficulties due to the lack of such basic facilities in hospitals that handle hundreds of patients every day.
A civil surgeon at the hospital has downplayed the incident. The surgeon claims that there is no shortage of drip stands, and the patient was brought in an ambulance and treated within minutes.
