NEW DELHI: Sunny Leone's New Year's Eve party has been canceled following protests by religious organizations and monks in Uttar Pradesh. The organizers said that the action was taken in consideration of religious and cultural sentiments. Complaints were filed with the district magistrate also.
The event was scheduled for January 1 at a private hotel in Mathura. All the preparations were complete. The hotel owner Mitul Pathak said that there were plans to include around 300 people and a DJ.
"Entry was to be allowed through tickets. Sunny Leone is a well-known artist. She is not known in any other capacity. The event was planned as a DJ. Four seating sections were arranged. However, the objections of the organizations are respected. Respect for cultural values is paramount," Pathak said. The district administration has not issued a specific statement in this regard.
