NEW DELHI: West Bengal Governor CV Ananda Bose said that he was not allowed to offer floral tributes when he went to Mannam Samadhi and that his rights as a member of the Nair community were violated. He shared his experience when he visited the Mannam Samadhi in Perunna before taking charge as the Governor in 2022. CV Ananda Bose shared this at the Mannam Jayanti celebration in Delhi the other day.

"The NSS Karayogam made me eligible for the post of governor. When Prime Minister Narendra Modi suggested that I take charge as governor, I sought permission from the NSS leadership to go to Mannath Acharyan's samadhi and pay homage. I got an appointment with the General Secretary. When I went there, the General Secretary came to the car, opened the door and welcomed me. He offered me tea, talked to me and sent me back. He did not say anything about paying homage to the samadhi. Don't all those born in the Nair community have the right to pay homage to Mannath Acharyan at his samadhi? Is that a monopoly right reserved for only a few? People dont dont to Perunna to see the guard there.

CV Ananda Bose said that a memorial for Mannath Padmanabhan should be built in Delhi and that he would donate one month's salary for it.

Sukumaran Nair denies allegations

KOTTAYAM: NSS General Secretary G Sukumaran Nair has said that CV Ananda Bose did not leave samadhi unable to enter.

"I doubt that Ananda Bose is saying this with something in mind. He is just doing a stunt to create trouble. Ananda Bose has come to Perunna and has offered flowers. Who will take responsibility if some madman comes at the wrong time and enters and prays. Let those who speak against us speak. Didn't some people even spread the word that Mohanlal could not pray here?" Sukumaran Nair responded.
