CHENNAI: Although Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam president and actor Vijay made it clear that he would contest alone in the upcoming Tamil Nadu assembly elections, the actor's father, S.A. Chandrasekhar, did not rule out the possibility of an alliance with Congress.
Chandrasekhar said that TVK is considering supporting the Congress and said that the grand old party comes with history and culture, unlike others. He said that the party which fought for independence is now on a downward slope. Chandrasekhar said that an alliance with Vijay would help the party revive its lost sheen.
“Vijay's chances of winning the election are sky high. It is normal for newbies in politics to face hurdles. Even if Vijay contests as an independent, victory is certain,” said S.A. Chandrasekhar.
At the same time, the Madras High Court had recently quashed the single bench order to grant a U/A certificate to the movie 'Jana Nayagan'. Observing that natural justice had not been followed, the court sent the matter back to the single bench for reconsideration.
