KOCHI: The Bengali actress, who had earlier filed a sexual abuse complaint against director Ranjith stepped forward reacting on his arrest. Talking to a media, she said karma will never spare anyone and will eventually catch up with everyone and that people will face the consequences of their actions.

‘Ranjith may be a famous director, but I don’t know about that. The recent sexual harassment complaint proves that he is not a good person. He is a sexual predator. It took me 15 years to reveal about the abuse. I didn’t know anyone at that time. Social media wasn’t developed like now. My case was dismissed because of the delay,’ she said.

She also thanked the actress who recently filed a complaint against Ranjith and stated that such sexual predators should be jailed. This case should serve as an example that women deserve respect, she added.

Earlier, a case had been registered based on the Bengali actress’ complaint that, during discussions related to the 2009 film Paleri Manikyam, Ranjith had touched her inappropriately with sexual intent at a flat in Kadavanthra, Kochi. The actress made this revelation in 2024. The police had investigated the case and filed a chargesheet.

However, in October, the high court dismissed the case, pointing that the incident happened in 2009 and the legal time limit for filing the case in a magistrate court had expired.
