Eyeless cruelty: Woman injured in accident sexually assaulted on way to hospital

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: There is a complaint that a woman injured in an accident was sexually assaulted while being taken to the hospital. The shocking incident happened in Kayamkulam on the morning of April 4. The complaint is against Sinil Sabad, the president of the Kayamkulam unit of the Traders and Entrepreneurs Coordination Committee, a media reported.

The woman said Sinil, who arrived at the accident site in the guise of a rescuer, sexually assaulted her while being taken to the hospital, and that he and his friends threatened her not to reveal the incident and offered her lakhs to withdraw the complaint.

The woman filed a complaint on the same day of the incident, but the police have not taken any action except registering a case. No medical examination has been conducted or a confidential statement has been recorded in the incident yet. The woman said that she has not received justice from the police despite repeated requests. The complaint says that the reason for this is the high influence of the accused. However, Sinil clarifies that he was not the one who assaulted her.

The DGP has intervened in the matter after the news came out. A report was sought from the Alappuzha SP on the complaint. The DGP said strict action will be taken if a lapse has occurred from the side of the police.
