THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Pinarayi Vijayan gave up silence and responded for the first time after the LDF’s embarrassing defeat in the assembly elections. The former CM relied on Facebook rather than holding a press conference.

Pinarayi Vijayan:

“The election result was completely unexpected, and we accept the mandate of the people with respect. Despite losing, the fact that a large section of the people stood firm with the LDF is a matter of great confidence. This mandate is not an end for the LDF, but a new beginning for continuous political work. BJP winning three seats is a case of serious concern.

Protecting the secularism and pluralism of Kerala is the basic stance of the LDF. Our fight against divisive politics without compromising with any communalism will continue.

It has been said before that widespread false propaganda took place during this election. The role played by some media in it should be seriously examined.

The LDF decided to thoroughly examine the election results and listen to the opinions of all comrades. The intention is a democratic and open examination. After the election results are out, the concerns, opinions and criticisms raised by the general public and comrades will be seriously examined. Decisions will be taken after listening to everyone's opinions. Tens of thousands of workers took up these election activities day and night for the LDF. I salute them all.

We are ready to work more strongly in accordance with the verdict given by the people. We will not be held back by lies and false propaganda emanating from corporate PR think tanks. We will democratically examine the shortcomings in the LDF's positions. Necessary corrections will be made. The LDF will move forward with greater clarity and confidence.

The fight for the future of Kerala, for the welfare of the people, for democracy and secularism will continue.

I would like to thank everyone who stood with the LDF once again. I assure you that we will come back stronger to regain the trust of the people of Kerala.”
