MALAPPURAM: K K Rema said that Pinarayi Vijayan should resign as MLA after taking up the moral responsibility for the CPM's heavy defeat in the assembly elections. She said the main reason for the setback, even in places like Dharmadom, was strong anti-incumbency sentiment and opposition to the leadership.
“Villages like Kayyur and Karivellur, which are strongholds of the CPM, voted for the Congress and its allies. There is strong anti-government feeling and opposition to the leadership in these areas. It is the party workers themselves who have defeated the CPM due to dissatisfaction with its current direction,” K K Rema said.
She also stated that she would accept whoever the Congress decides as Chief Minister. She added that she would take a decision on accepting a ministerial position only after consulting her party.
