NEW DELHI: The centre has accepted Kerala's demands on lockdown relaxations. Lockdown relaxation has been announced for the plantation sector from Monday. The plantation sector has been completely exempted from the lockdown from April 20 onwards. The list also includes spices plantations. There is also relaxation of forest resources. Lockdown is not applicable to coconut groves. Cooperative societies can also open after April 20. More relaxations are expected in the coming days. Kerala had asked centre to ease restrictions in the context of controlling COVID in the state by dividing the state into four zones.
Meantime, the centre had informed that a package of five lakh crore is under consideration. Officials of the finance ministry had convened a meet to discuss the package. The relaxation is likely to be considered.
