Five more diagnosed with Zika virus, total of 35 patients in state, 24 recoveries

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Minister Veena George said that 5 more people in the state have been diagnosed with Zika virus. The patients are natives of Palkulangara (37), Perunthanni (61), Balaramapuram (27), Nedunkadu (7) and Ernakulam Vazhakulam (34).

The Ernakulam native woman is a health worker in Thiruvananthapuram. The virus was confirmed in tests conducted at the Virology Lab of Thiruvananthapuram Medical College, NIV in Alappuzha and the Microbiology Lab in Coimbatore. With this, a total of 35 people in the state have been diagnosed with the Zika virus. There are currently 11 active cases and the rest have tested negative.
