KOTTAYAM: The Kerala Congress (M) high-power committee has lashed out at the CPI election review report which stated that Jose K Mani was defeated in Pala due to lack of popularity.

In the report, the CPI had stated that a section of the LDF was not able to accept Kerala Congress (M) during the election campaign in Pala.

The CPI leadership had started expressing dissatisfaction with the Kerala Congress (M) ever since it was forced to hand over the Kanjirapally seat to the Jose faction. The report also sought to establish that the Left Front got continuation in power not because of the power of the Jose faction. Several leaders of the Jose faction reacted against this in the high power committee yesterday. The leaders took a dig at CPI state secretary Kanam Rajendran by stating that those who are putting marks for the popularity of leaders were the ones who lost in several elections.

"The report that came out in the name of the CPI election review is childish. If you want to know the influence of the Kerala Congress (M), you may ask Vazhoor Soman, the CPI MLA who won from Peermede. Many Left Front candidates, including those of CPI, had won seats under the influence of the Kerala Congress (M)," Kerala Congress (M) general secretary Stephen George said.
