THRISSUR: TP murder accused Kodi Suni came up with a new attempt for a change of jail, but the authorities didn't budge. Suni had been on a hunger strike since last night demanding to be transferred to Kannur jail. However, the authorities did not pay attention and reportedly stopped the strike and started eating on Tuesday.
Suni, who is lodged in the Viyyur high-security jail, is not allowed to go out to exercise or work like other prisoners. Unlike other prisoners, Suni's cell is locked for 24 hours. The fast was held in protest against this. Earlier, the DGP had rejected Suni's request to be shifted to Kannur jail.
Suni was transferred to the Viyyur Central Jail a few weeks ago following his use of a mobile phone. Suni is housed in a cell next to the guard office. Since this is in the eyes of the officers on duty including the jail superintendent, nothing illegal can be done. In addition, the cell has been heavily guarded following strict instructions from the authorities.
