Classes until noon in first phase, Saturday will be working day, classes to be based on bio-bubble, parental consent required

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The guideline for opening schools in the state has been released. The guideline is released in eight parts and is titled 'Thirike Schoolilekku' (Back to School). In the first phase, classes are only for two weeks until noon. Classes will be held on all Saturdays without public holidays. Children can come to school only with the consent of their parents. The decision on providing lunch can be taken by the respective schools. Children with disabilities need not attend school in the first phase. Teachers and staff must take two doses of the vaccine.

If there is no bus facility in schools, buses will be allowed on a bond basis. Children's travel will be free. Drivers and staff on buses must be vaccinated. Owners and employees of shops and other establishments operating near schools must be vaccinated. Classes are organized and run on a bio-bubble basis. Children shouldn't be allowed to gather. Children living in homes with Covid cases should not attend school.

A special register system will be set up to identify children with symptoms. Special arrangements will be set up for parents to clear their doubts. The services of a doctor will be ensured in a school.

Prior to the opening of the school, the guidelines were prepared by the Department of Health and the Department of Education. A maximum of three children will be allowed in a vehicle if children arrive by autorickshaw. There will be facilities in front of each class for personal hygiene and hand washing. Schools will ensure that masks and sanitizers are provided to children. A maximum of two children will be allowed on a bench in classes 1-7.

Offline classes will be started in schools in the state and online classes will continue. The schedule will be announced soon. Uniforms and assembly will not be mandatory in schools in the first phase.
