Student, elderly man killed as bike hits bicycle

KAYAMKULAM: An elderly man and a student were killed after a bicycle collided with a motorbike. The deceased have been identified as Arattupuzha native Rajendran and Sambhu (17), son of Puthiyavila native Manoharan and Mini.

Sambhu's friend Rizwan suffered serious injuries. The accident took place at around 4.45 pm near Elampallissery junction in Alappuzha. According to sources, the bike, which was driven by Rizwan, hit Rajendran, who was crossing the road on a bicycle. Sambhu, who was sitting behind Rizwan, fell and hit his head on a nearby wall and died on the spot. Though Rajendran was rushed to a hospital, his life could not be saved. Rizwan is undergoing treatment at the Medical College Hospital.
