KANNUR: Cardinal Mar George Alencherry said Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan would have been a metropolitan if he was a believer. Alencherry said this while talking at the golden jubilee of the priesthood of Thalassery Archbishop Mar George Njaralakatt. The chief minister while talking at the inaugural function of the golden jubilee celebrations, had recited Bible verses many times. Alencherry jokingly said this after that.
The chief minister had quoted many passages from the Pope's article during his speech. The chief minister lauded the efforts of Mar George Njaralakatt, who constantly worked for the upliftment of the agricultural sector. Cardinal Mar George Alencherry made the statement soon after the speech delivered by the chief minister.
Attending the function, K Muraleedharan MP said that if George Njaralakatt had not taken over as bishop, he would have been at the forefront of the ongoing farmers' struggle in Delhi.
