Producer Antony Perumbavoor has clarified that five more films produced by Aashirvad Cinemas will not be released in theatres after Mohanlal's Marakkar Arabikkadalinte Simham was confirmed to be an OTT release. Antony Perumbavoor also commented on the release of other films in a press conference confirming the OTT release of Marakkar. Apart from Priyadarshan's Marakkar, Prithviraj's Bro Daddy, Jeethu Joseph's 12th Man, Shaji Kailas' Alone, Priyadarshan's Boxer and Vyshakh's Mohanlal movie after 'Pulimurukan' will be released on OTT platform.
These are films made in the special circumstances of the Covid period. These can only be given to OTT platforms. Antony Perumbavoor said that the betrayal by a group of theater owners towards Mohanlal and Priyadarshan's dream film Marakkar has led to the release of new films on the OTT platform.
"A lot of people wanted to see Marakkar in the theatre. Even when Drishyam 2 was released on OTT, I wanted Marakkar to be released in theaters. Things went according to plan. But there is a situation where it cannot be released in theatres for many reasons. The final possibilities were also examined. It was the non-cooperation of the theatre owners that changed things", Antony Perumbavoor said.
