Periya double murder: CBI with decisive move, arrests five CPM activists including branch secretary

KASARGOD: The CBI Wednesday arrested five CPM activists in the Periya double murder case They will be produced in the Ernakulam court tomorrow. Echiladukkam branch secretary Raju, Madhu, Surendran, Reji Varghese and Hariprasad are those arrested. Their arrest was registered after CBI’s interrogation at the Kasargod Guest House.

Kripesh and Sarath Lal, youth congress activists of Periya Kalyot were hacked to death by a group of people after stopping their bike on February 17 in 2019. The crime branch had earlier arrested 14 including CPM area and local secretaries and party activists. The case was later handed over to the CBI by the high court. CPM Periya local committee member A Peethambaran is the first accused.
