People need not know all that, all roads should be repaired, says Minister Riyas

KOZHIKODE: There are over 1.5 lakh km of roads in Kerala. However, of this, only 32,000 km of roads are under the purview of the public works department, said Minister Mohammad Riyaz. That's not something people need to know. All roads should be travel friendly for the public. The government is working diligently on things related to that, he said.

There is a road for the public works department, one for the local self-government department and for other departments. There is no particular road, all roads should be open to the public. The Kozhikode Corporation has done exemplary work in this regard, he said.

He also reacted to the action against the temporary employee of Vadakara Rest House. The government is moving ahead with the decision to renovate the rest houses of the public works department, make online bookings and ensure cleanliness. However, he blamed the decision of some that things will move only in their way. There are rest houses well maintained and moving forward. The rest houses in Kozhikode and Ernakulam are examples of this. They deserve an applause, he said.
