THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A letter sent by Higher Education Minister R Bindu to the Governor regarding the re-appointment of Kannur VC has come out. In her letter, the minister said that a re-appointment was required to take forward the academic excellence of Kannur University and that she was recommending the name of Gopinath Raveendran. The minister added that Gopinath Raveendran's name was put forward as there was no search committee.
The letter surfaced at a time when minister Bindu has been remaining silent on the issue. Meanwhile, the opposition has reiterated that it was the minister who demanded the governor to make the re-appointment in Kannur University. The ongoing dispute between the government and the governor started after governor Arif Mohammad Khan alleged that he was put under pressure by the government regarding the appointment of a VC at Kannur University.
