Covid situation extremely critical in Thiruvananthapuram and Ernakulam, more than 11,000 persons infected with virus in two districts

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Covid cases are continuing to rise exponentially in the state. Ernakulam district reported the highest number of new Covid cases on Wednesday- 5953. Meanwhile, 5684 persons tested positive for the virus in Thiruvananthapuram. More than 11,000 persons have been infected with the virus in the two districts in the last 24 hours.

District wise breakup of positive cases:

Ernakulam 5953, Thiruvananthapuram 5684, Thrissur 3604, Kozhikode 3386, Kottayam 2333, Pathanamthitta 1944, Palakkad 1920, Kannur 1814, Kollam 1742, Malappuram 1579, Idukki 1435, Alappuzha 1339, Wayanad 798, Kasaragod 668.

91,983 samples were tested in the last 24 hours. TPR stood at 37.17 percent.

As of now, there are 1,68,383 active cases in the state.

The state confirmed 49 deaths due to the virus on Wednesday with the toll rising to 51,160.
