BJP leader barges into panchayat office and hangs Modi's picture on wall, video goes viral, finally a twist

COIMBATORE: A BJP leader who barged into a panchayat office and hung Prime Minister Narendra Modi's picture on the wall was arrested by the police. The man arrested has been identified as M Bhaskaran (39), district secretary of Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh (BMS) Coimbatore. He was charged with non-bailable offences. The incident occurred last Saturday at the panchayat office in Pooluvapatti town of Coimbatore. The police have registered cases against 11 others for trespassing and criminal intimidation.

Bhaskaran and his gang reached the panchayat office to install PM’s photograph, as repeated requests went unheeded. They came with nails and hammer to hang the picture. Bhaskaran himself shared the video of installing the picture on the social media.

''When the pictures of former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi and Chief Minister M K Stalin are hung on the wall, why couldn't Modi's picture be placed in the office'', asked the BJP workers. Bhaskaran's demand to hang Modi's picture on the wall was rejected by the panchayat executive officer Rangaswamy, citing the absence of collector's approval. Further, the party workers reportedly asked “whether the panchayat office was located in Afghanistan?” and then forcibly installed the picture. It was on the complaint filed by the panchayat authorities the police registered cases for trespassing and criminal intimidation. Bhaskaran was arrested and remanded for 15 days.
