KOCHI: The lottery department is mulling to increase the minimum first prize of lottery tickets to one crore. The first prize will be increased to Rs 1 crore, Rs 1.25 crore and Rs 1.5 crore.
Ticket prices will be Rs 50, Rs 60 and Rs 70 respectively. Currently, all tickets except the bumper are priced at Rs 40. In 2019, it was increased from Rs 30 to Rs 40. The final decision rests with the government. The sources told Kerala Kaumudi that the bumper ticket price will not change.
In most districts, 100 to 150 new agencies are started every month. The lotteries that are printed is not enough as of now. At present only 1.8 crore tickets can be printed. Only 9 lakh tickets in 12 series. Only 12 series are set on the lottery machines. So the series cannot be increased. Hiking the price can reduce the tendency to buy too many tickets.
