Man commits suicide after hacking wife to death; chops off sister-in-law’s arms

KOLLAM: A man committed suicide after hacking his wife to death in Kottarakkara. Rajan (64) of Pullamala hacked his wife Rema to death. A family dispute for days ended in the murder. The couple were estranged for quite some time. Rajan attacked Rema when she was walking through the rubber plantation at 11 am.

Rajan also attacked Rema’s sister Rethi, who rushed to the spot seeing the incident. He chopped off her arm when she intervened. She has been admitted in the hospital. After confirming her death, he committed suicide by hanging.

Mother of Rema and Rethi died a few days back. There were some family issues between the couple. Rajan was warned from entering her house following a complaint lodged.
