If he has guts, explain it to the public; Telangana Chief Minister challenges Prime Minister on fuel tax exemption issue

NEW DELHI: Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhara Rao on Monday lashed out at Prime Minister Narendra Modi for criticizing states ruled by opposition parties for not reducing fuel taxes. Rao said Modi had convened a meeting of Chief Ministers to discuss the Covid crisis in the country but had talked about fuel price hike in the entire meeting.

The CM said that even the Prime Minister did not know what he was talking about and that the meeting with him was just a pastime. He said that during the 3-4 hour meeting, other chief ministers should listen to the Prime Minister and Modi would not even bother to ask what they had to say.

Chandrasekhara Rao said that the Modi-led Central government itself has been raising fuel taxes frequently and he has not increased fuel prices in his state since 2015. Chandrasekhara Rao challenged Modi to explain to the people that the Centre is not only collecting fuel tax but also cess and if has the guts, expose the looting behind fuel tax.
