22-year-old held for posing as Indian soldier on social media; fake ID and uniform recovered

KOLKATA: The Kolkata-based military intelligence has arrested a 22-year-old man, who actively interacted on social media posing as an Indian army official. The arrested has been identified as Shivam Pandey, who claimed to be a Lieutenant in the army.

The youth was nabbed from Kolkata’s New Market area by the military intelligence and was handed over to the Kolkata police. The military intelligence had been monitoring Pandey’s social media activities for several days. He had been posting a lot of updates on Facebook, Instagram and other sites. He had also used fake pictures for financial gains. The police have recovered a fake army identity card, army letter pads and an army uniform from him.
