NEDUMANGAD: A young woman dies as she sets herself on fire after killing her live-in partner by pouring kerosene and setting him on fire, out of suspicion. The deceased have been identified as Abhilash (38) and Bindu (30), residents of the third floor of a flat at Nalanda Tower, Aanandu Bank Junction.
Bindu also poured kerosene on the body of his six-year-old child, but the child ran outside and escaped. The child told police that her mother had poured kerosene on her. The incident took place at 4.30 pm on Thursday. Abhilash hails from Thachonam, North Vadakkela, Aanadu and Bindu hails from Pandarakkonam, Aanandu. Six-year old daughter is Bindhu's child from first marriage. They started living together two and a half years ago.
Abhilash, who was abroad returned home on Wednesday after six months. Bindu also went to work at a nearby cashew nut factory. According to the police, the two always quarrelled over the phone due to mutual suspicion. It escalated when Abhilash returned home. Neighbors alerted fire force after seeing the child's screams and fire. Nedumangad fire brigade reached the spot and put out the fire and entered the house. The young man's body was lying on the bed in the bedroom and the young woman's body in another room. Both were not intalking terms with relatives. Nedumangad police registered a case.
