THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: When family could not sustain themselves with the meagre income received from husband's watch repairing, Bindu, who started selling oil prepared with herbal leaves, now has a company with an income of Rs 2 lakh per month with Kudumbashree's help. The current target is an annual income of Rs 1 crore. Although she is currently the Director of Ayuraj Industries, her role as an oil seller at Kudumbasree fairs cannot be forgotten.

The Kudumbasree Chairperson invited Bindu to Kudumbasree at the age of 32 when she went out to sale her self-made oil. At a fair held in St. Mary's School in Pattom in 2006, 36 bottles of oil were sold in two hours. At the Kudumbasree Nutrifest held at Chandrasekharan Nair Stadium in 2008, she came up with an ayurvedic porridge made with self-prescribed ingredients. On that day, she earned Rs 20,000, which gave her confidence. That was the beginning of the Athira herbal products. Bindu started making different products from Brahmi.

Earlier this year, Ayuraj Industries Pvt. Ltd. company was registered. Five people were employed. Her family supports her in all endeavours.Bindu has won state award for Best Entrepreneur in 2012 and 2014 and a National Award in 2016.

"It was a proud moment to be able to present the National Award to my father, a daily wage worker." said Bindu Pallichal.
