THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Human Rights Commission (HRC) has registered a case against the Municipal Corporation in the incident where the workers cleaned the polluted water coming from the drain near Trida complex in Chala in the capital without using any safety equipments. Justice Antony Dominic, chairman of the Human Rights Commission, asked the Muncipal secretary to look into the matter and to submit a report within four weeks.

The contract staff assigned by the municipality to clean the drain, did not put on gloves or boots for safety. During the monsoon season, when the corporation was conducting awareness campaigns against communicable diseases, the work assigned by the corporation itself was carried out without any safety precautions.
