MUMBAI: A 21-year-old youth allegedly stabbed his friend to death, stuffed her body in a sack and dumped it on a railway track, in a fit of rage as she asked him to repay Rs 3000. The dead has been identified as 26-year-old Sarika Damodar Chalke, a native of Dindoshi. The police have nabbed Vikas Jagan Khairnar in connection with the case. The body was dumped on the tracks from a train.
The sack was noticed by two trackmen, who came to inspect the railway tracks. On finding the body, they soon informed the police. The police identified the woman to be Sarika and launched an investigation. Following which the accused was nabbed.
Earlier, Sarika’s husband had lodged a complaint stating that his wife was missing. However, the police were unable to find her. Meanwhile, the dead body was spotted. An investigation centered around CCTV footage revealed that Vikas was the murderer. The woman was killed in a toilet, the body was stuffed into a sack and brought to the railway station via an auto. From there, it was taken on a local train and dumped on the tracks. There were several stab wounds on the body.
Both of them had been working in the same house and had known each other for three years. The police have not completely believed the accused’s statement. It is being inspected whether the woman was sexually assaulted.
