NEW DELHI: The Medical Council Committee is keeping the future of students at stake without filling vacant NEET PG seats criticizes Supreme Court. The bench of Justices J R Shah and Anirudha Bose has pointed out that the vacancy would not only cause inconvenience to students but also lead to a shortage of qualified doctors.
The apex court criticized while considering the petition filed by the medical students seeking a special stray round of counseling for the vacant seats under the All-India Quota, AIQ.
"Not a single seat should remain vacant. It is your duty to look into it. You are playing with the life of students. The mop-up round should have been conducted as soon as it was known that the seats were vacant in May. There are 1,456 vacant seats.", said the court.
The court has also ordered Additional Solicitor General Balbir Singh to be present on Thursday for hearing. The court also directed the central government and the Medical Counseling Committee to file a reply on Wednesday
