MBBS student dies after scooter falls into ditch in Kalpetta

KALPETTA: Road accidents in Kerala are burgeoning in numbers as yet another MBBS student lost her life on the road on Thursday. Manjeri Kizhakkethala native Fatima Taskia (24), a student of Kozhikode Medical College is the deceased.

The shocking incident took place at 10 pm on Wednesday. Fatima was travelling in a scooter along with her friend Ajma when she lost control of the vehicle and it overturned on Pinangode Panniyar road. Ajma was admitted to the hospital with minor injuries. Both are students of Kozhikode Medical College.

Both of them were returning to Kozhikode after attending a medical health club meeting at Kalpetta. Fatima’s scooter overturned on the sixth-mile road of Pinangode and fell into a small hook. Fatima who suffered major injuries on her head died on the spot. The body was immediately shifted to Kalpetta Fatima Hospital.

It was just a few days before that some Malayali students died in a car accident in Bengaluru. The deceased have been identified as Alby G Jacob and Vishnu Kumar S, natives of Kottarakkara, Kollam. The accident occurred when the bike they were travelling on lost control and hit the divider on the road.
