Protests are a clear indication of the sentiments of India's youngsters, CM Pinarayi Vijayan requests Prime Minister to put Agnipath scheme on hold

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has requested the Prime Minister to suspend the Agnipath scheme which recruits youth on a four-year contract. Pinarayi tweeted that the erupting protests against the scheme in various states of the country is a indication of sentiments of India's youngsters. CM has asked the Prime Minister to suspend the Agnipath scheme in the interest of the country and to address criticism by professionals and duly consider the apprehensions of the youth.

Police have arrested the alleged mastermind behind the violence that took place against the Agnipath scheme in Secunderabad. The arrested person has been identified as Andhra Pradesh native Subba Rao. He is the director of a private defence academy. Police have also arrested Telangana Congress president Revanth Reddy, who was on his way to attend the funeral of Dameera Rakesh, who was shot dead by police.

Police have arrested 30 people who were involved in various incidents of violence. Of these, 12 people led the attack. Police believe that youngsters were organised for the protest through various WhatsApp groups. The youngsters were called by various groups to reach the railway stations to protest. This protest later turned into a major riot.
