P V Sindhu wins Singapore Open title, defeats China’s Wang Zhi Yi

SINGAPORE: P V Sindhu won the maiden Singapore Open Super 500 trophy. She defeated China’s Wang Zhi Yi in the finals and lifted the trophy. Sindhu's victory came after a three-set battle.

This is her third title of the season. Sindhu had earlier won titles in the Korean Open and Swiss Open tournaments. Third seeded Sindhu qualified for the final after defeating Saena Kawakami of Japan in the semi-finals.

Sindhu defeated Wang Zhi Yi 21-9, 11-21, 21-15 in the final match of women's singles at the Singapore Open 2022. Sindhu is the second Indian to win the Singapore Open title after Saina Nehwal.
