THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Vigilance department has again been assigned with a mission to find out the corrupted government departments and to prepare a list of it. Then it will be revealed to the public. This is in the context of increasing complaints of bribery and corruption. A similar list was prepared in 2017.
A permanent monitoring system to prepare a 'corruption rank' of 61 departments, will assess various factors such as complaints received, inspection reports, arrested officers, denial of services, projects with no public use and abuse of power. At present, local government and revenue departments are on the top of corruption list.
Strict actions are not being taken even if Vigilance detects corruption and reports to department heads. The Corruption Index prepared by Research and Study wing of Vigilance will be published on the website as four sections- more corrupt, medium, less corrupt and least.
