Neither I nor the Municipal Corporation meant it that way, Mayor Arya Rajendran comes up with an explanation

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Mayor Arya Rajendran has received a lot of criticism for the announcement that the corporation is forming its own sports team in the general category and SC/ST category. The Mayor announced this through Facebook with the introduction that the lifelong wish of the sportsmen and sports lovers of the city is coming true. But such a decision of caste-wise divisions coming from a Left-ruled municipal corporation are being heavily criticized on social media. Under the post, there are several mocking comments which asks whether the Mayor doesn't have the political sense to question this decision.

But the Mayor herself has come forward with an explanation due to widespread criticism. It is regrettable that a well-intentioned decision taken by the Corporation has been misinterpreted. The Mayor explained that this is the first time in Kerala that a local self-governing body has devised a plan to take the sports one step ahead from the usual methods.
