Sriram Venkitaraman assumes charge as SupplyCo GM

KOCHI: Sriram Venkitaraman has assumed charge as SupplyCo General Manager. The government shifted Sriram from the post of Alappuzha Collector after strong protests were staged by various organizations demanding his removal from that post. The protests were staged against him, an accused in a case involving the death of journalist K M Basheer in an accident.

Muslim League district chief A M Nazir alleged that the appointment of Sriram Venkitaraman was a disgrace to the Alappuzha district and the government's decision to appoint the accused as the district collector was a challenge to the people. He had also said that the appointment of a tainted person to the post of district collector with magisterial powers would have far-reaching consequences.
