Meeting attended by Sriram Venkitaraman boycotted by Congress, Muslim League 

ALAPPUZHA: The Congress and Muslim League have boycotted a meeting attended by Alappuzha District Collector Sriram Venkitaraman. Representatives of both parties did not participate in the meeting held to discuss the conduction of the Nehru Trophy boat race. The District Collector is also the Chairman of the Boat Race Society.

Sriram Venkitaraman is the accused in the case of the death of journalist KM Basheer who died in a car accident. The Congress and the Muslim League are on strike in the district to protest against the appointment of Sriram as Collector.
